From the very beginning, we’ve been bound by the principle that identity isn’t just an IT checkbox or a buzzword – it’s what allows organizations to thrive.
Whether it’s a user logging into company email, a shopper making an online purchase, or an application accessing a database to retrieve sensitive data, identity is the glue that keeps everything running securely so that businesses can better serve those who matter most: their customers.
That’s why we’re beyond excited to announce we’ve secured $25 million in Series A funding to advance our mission of securing non-human identities – the applications, scripts, and services that power today’s enterprises. This funding round, led by Acrew Capital, with participation from Ballistic Ventures, Ten Eleven Ventures, Okta Ventures, and CrowdStrike Falcon Fund, represents more than just financial backing. It’s a recognition of our dedication and the urgent need in the market for proactive NHI security.
Today, non-human identities far outnumber human ones in most organizations. Yet despite this shift, security efforts still heavily focus on protecting people’s access, leaving a huge gap around NHIs. Our new survey report on non-human identity security showed just how wide this gap is. For example, more than 30% of organizations still store credentials in code, and 23% share them via email or chat. Who needs to bother exploiting vulnerabilities when keys to the front door are just lying on the front doorstep for your adversaries?
We’ve seen the consequences firsthand: breaches where API keys and tokens were either targeted by cybercriminals or accidentally exposed, often with devastating results. These incidents underscore the urgent need to rethink the security of non-human identities in today’s complex, distributed environments.
Building Aembit to Solve NHI Challenges
Aembit’s mandate is to secure how non-human identities access each other, while removing the headaches and risks of manual secrets management. We hear it all the time from CISOs: They want to get rid of the hassle of manually managing API keys and tokens and move toward solutions that automate secure, policy-driven access across cloud and on-prem environments based on non-human identity, like they do with humans today.
That’s exactly what Aembit does. It secures access between workloads and the resources they interact with – using secretless, just-in-time access based on identity and posture, with MFA-like strength. We help companies reduce their attack surface, streamline security operations, and offload devs from the burden of building custom auth code. Our goal is to proactively secure NHI access, not just offer another dashboard that points out issues.
What’s Next for Us?
With this fresh funding, we’re more committed than ever to expanding and refining our platform. Our vision is to provide the control plane for NHI access across all your environments – clouds, data centers, and SaaS. We’ll be investing in scaling, resiliency, automation, and deeper integrations with the systems that your business relies on.
We’ll also be growing our team. From the moment we started, we envisioned Aembit as a fully remote company. Today our staff spans the globe, and each of us brings a unique background and perspective that makes us stronger. This approach has allowed us to hire top talent, no matter where you are located. If you’re passionate about solving big security challenges and want to be part of an innovative, fully distributed team, we’d love to hear from you. You can check out our open positions on our careers page.
To our customers and partners, thank you for believing in us. Your trust, feedback, and support have shaped Aembit into what it is today. And to the broader security community, this is just the beginning.
